The panel consists of individuals representing different parts of the art world’s ecosystem – a museum, a gallerist, an auction house, an art dealer, a fair organizer, and a collector.
The aim of the conversation is to give the audience a broader understanding of how the art world is connected – from creation to mediation, sale, and collecting. Through dialogue, we shed light on how the various actors work both independently and together, the challenges and opportunities they face, and how their roles influence the value, visibility, and circulation of art.
The panel seeks to provide insight into how the complex interplay between the many stakeholders in art shapes both the market and meaning – and what this means for art as culture and as commodity.
Kasper Nielsen is an experienced Danish art expert and advisor with over 30 years in the trade of art and collectibles – from classical to modern. For 15 years, he served as director and auctioneer at Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers, where he handled thousands of works. In 2024, he founded ArtSolo, which offers art dealing, valuations, consultancy, and lectures based on competence, integrity, and passion.
Kirsten MacDonald is Regional Director for Phillips in Scandinavia, based in Copenhagen. She is responsible for auctions and advisory services within modern and contemporary art as well as design. Under her leadership, Phillips has established a dedicated office and exhibition space in Copenhagen, focusing on connecting Nordic collectors with international art markets. Representing Phillips, she works with both private and institutional collectors in Scandinavia and is dedicated to promoting modern and post-war art as part of the global market. She focuses in particular on bringing together new artists and established works with collectors and audiences.
Julie Leopold is the founder and director of Enter Art Fair, Scandinavia’s largest international art fair. She has built the fair into a platform that connects galleries, artists, collectors, and audiences across borders. As a private collector, she is passionate about contemporary art that tells stories and sparks curiosity – from established names to new talents.
Caroline Bøge is the owner of 2112, a gallery located both in central Copenhagen and Charlottenlund. She has a strong art-world background, growing up with parents who ran a gallery in the 1980s and 90s. Educated at both the University of Copenhagen and Harvard, she held the position of Gallery Director at Nils Stærk before establishing her own gallery. Caroline’s gallery has a special focus on female artists, holistic art advisory services, and fostering collaboration opportunities between different stakeholders, both inside and outside the art world. She has also danced for the Royal Danish Ballet, making her an artist in her own right.
Martin Nielsen is a Danish entrepreneur and art enthusiast based in Aalborg, who, through Martin Nielsen Holding, has worked to realize his ambitious visions for the local area, where art, culture, and urban life merge. Alongside his professional endeavors, Martin Nielsen has built a significant personal art collection over many years. His collecting interests have developed over time, both in financial scale and artistic boldness. He seeks works that move him deeply, without necessarily focusing on investment potential. Instead, he prioritizes supporting local Danish artists, frequently attends the Royal Danish Academy’s exhibitions and art fairs, and finds inspiration in international formats. Martin also serves on Enter Art Fair’s advisory board.
Nanna Hjortenberg is the director of Kunstforeningen Gl. Strand, with the stated mission of ensuring the continuous development of the art centre’s modern and contemporary Nordic and international profile. This conversation takes its starting point in The Caretaker’s Room, the latest edition of Enter Art Fair’s Curated Choice, curated by Copenhagen-based creative Kevin Kafesu.
Together with artist Luca Bjørnsten, gallerist Jonathan Kvium, and art collector Karen Bro – and moderated by writer and strategist Roland-Philippe Kretzschmar – the panel will explore what it means to care in and through art.
From personal experiences of giving and receiving care, to the weight and lightness of emotional labour, to the rituals that sustain both artists and audiences, the discussion opens up the many ways care shapes creativity and community. Where do boundaries lie between care for oneself and for others? Can art itself act as a caretaker? And how do we ensure that art spaces remain welcoming and accessible to all?
Through these questions, The Caretaker’s Room becomes more than a metaphor – it is a shared space for reflection on tenderness, resilience, and the quiet strength that underpins both art and life.
