Galerie Moderne Silkeborg

Founded in 1962 by Willy Omme, Galerie Moderne Silkeborg is one of the leading galleries for modern and contemporary art in the Nordic region. Located in Silkeborg, Denmark, the gallery has built an international reputation through its longstanding commitment to the CoBrA movement and its close relationships with many of the movement’s most significant artists.

Over the decades, Galerie Moderne Silkeborg has presented works by artists including Asger Jorn, Pierre Alechinsky, Corneille, Karel Appel, Egill Jacobsen, Henry Heerup, and Carl-Henning Pedersen. The gallery remains a leading authority on CoBrA art and is recognised for having handled more works by Asger Jorn than any other gallery.

Since becoming co-owner in 1989 and taking over the gallery’s leadership in 2008, Henrik Omme has continued to develop the programme while maintaining its strong historical foundation. Alongside its expertise in CoBrA, the gallery represents a diverse roster of contemporary artists, creating a dialogue between established art historical positions and new artistic practices.

Today, Galerie Moderne Silkeborg continues to play an active role on both the Danish and international art scene through exhibitions, art fairs, and collaborations with artists, collectors, and institutions.
