Enter Art Fair Announces Multi-Year Partnership with Den Frie
Enter Art Fair is pleased to announce a new multi-year collaboration with Den Frie Udstillingsbygning – one of Denmark’s most distinctive artist-run exhibition spaces.
This partnership brings together two distinct yet complementary formats within the art ecosystem: the international art fair and the institution rooted in artistic experimentation and collective tradition. What unites Enter Art Fair and Den Frie is a shared ambition to expand encounters with contemporary art, strengthen long-term cultural relevance, and invite more people into the art world.
Founded in 1891 at the initiative of the artists’ association Den Frie Udstilling, Den Frie has for more than a century functioned as a living forum for free and experimental contemporary art. In its iconic wooden building designed by J.F. Willumsen, Den Frie continues to challenge conventions and cultivate new artistic perspectives.
Each year, Enter Art Fair brings together international galleries, artists, collectors, and institutions in Copenhagen in a focused and dynamic format. With an emphasis on quality, care, and cohesion, the fair works to create frameworks where art can be experienced openly and with depth.

It is precisely in the tension between these two positions – between institutional grounding and the international marketplace – that the partnership finds its strength. The collaboration is conceived as a long-term commitment, allowing initiatives to evolve over time rather than stand as isolated efforts.
“For me, this partnership is about taking shared responsibility for the art ecosystem, and about inviting more people into the universe of art. It requires quality, presence, and persistence. We must create spaces where art can be experienced as something alive and relevant, and where people feel welcome – whether they come as collectors, professionals, or curious first-time visitors.”
– Julie Leopold, CEO & Founder of Enter Art Fair
From Den Frie’s perspective, the partnership presents an opportunity to broaden the conversation and reach new audiences while preserving its artistic foundation.

“Communities and partnerships have always been fundamental to Den Frie. We work within them and think through them. Through our collaboration with Enter Art Fair, we invite Enter’s art-engaged audience into the artists’ house. At Den Frie, visitors come close to artists and their works through a program that spans emerging and established names, Danish and international artists, and works across experimental formats.”
– Marianne Torp, Director, Den Frie Udstillingsbygning
Through shared initiatives and long-term formats, the collaboration will strengthen the connections between artistic practice and audiences, between local anchoring and international exchange, and between curiosity and sustained engagement.
The partnership is announced as part of both organisations’ long-term strategic efforts to reinforce the role and reach of contemporary art.
